A regional education body in Northern Ireland seeks a dedicated individual for the role of School Crossing Patrol. The role involves ensuring the safe passage of school children across roads and requires strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ideal candidates will have knowledge of road safety and a commitment to child welfare. This position is vital for promoting safety in children's daily journeys to school.
REPORTS TO: The Transport Officer
JOB PURPOSE: To undertake duties concerned with the safe passage of school children across roads to and from school, e.g. control and direction of traffic at crossing areas, operation of hazard warning signs, and identification of roadside hazards.
This job description will be subject to review in light of changing circumstances and is not intended to be rigid and inflexible but should be regarded as providing guidelines within which the individual works. Other duties of a similar nature and appropriate to the grade may be assigned from time to time.
In accordance with Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act (1998), the post-holder is expected to promote good relations, equality of opportunity and pay due regard for equality legislation at all times.

Willingness to undertake job related training – assessed by shortlisting via application form.
Demonstrable knowledge of road safety and traffic awareness – assessed by interview.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; excellent customer service skills; ability to use own initiative while following procedures – assessed by interview.

Applicants recommended for a post that involves ‘regulated activity’ will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure of Criminal Background. You will be expected to meet the cost of an Enhanced Disclosure Certificate. Details of payment will be sent at the pre‑employment stage.
