Job summary

Principal Education in Barking & Dagenham is seeking Cover Supervisors for secondary schools to supervise classes when teachers are absent and support a positive learning environment. You will work across a range of subjects, delivering prepared activities and ensuring student safety and engagement.

This role suits youth workers, sports coaches or behaviour mentors and requires an Enhanced DBS. Flexible hours, training and ongoing support are provided to help develop classroom management skills

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Enhanced DBS clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise classes in the absence of the regular teacher while ensuring safety and engagement.
• Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials provided by teaching staff.
• Support students with behavioural and learning needs to promote inclusion.
• Act as a positive role model and foster respect and teamwork in the classroom.
• Maintain attendance and behaviour records and report to staff as needed.
• Communicate with teachers and leadership about issues or successes during cover sessions.
