Overview
V-Recruit are currently looking for experienced School Chefs/Kitchen Managers to start work in the South Yorkshire area. Temp to perm opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Take a lead in the preparation and cooking of various dishes
- Assist with meal preparation according to recipes and guidelines
- Ensure all food is cooked and presented in accordance with appropriate recipes and quality standards
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment
- Follow food safety procedures and regulations
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to provide excellent dining experiences
- Being responsible for allergen knowledge and information
- Being responsible for health and safety in the workplace
- Having some involvement in the serving of dishes and serving students from time to time, including till operation
- To set objectives and be responsible for the day to day running of the location, including supervising the recruitment and selection process, training, monitoring development and progress of staff.
- To ensure accurate and efficient financial control
- To ensure that all bookwork is completed in a timely manner, accurately and efficiently and in line with company procedures.
- To line manage the team of cooks, catering staff and breaktime supervisors, dealing with any issues that arise.
- To ensure the location meets statutory and company requirements of Health & Safety, Food Safety and Environmental legislation and procedures.
- To conduct Food Safety and Health & Safety Risk Assessments and ensure that all standards and procedures in relation to Hygiene and Safety are established and maintained in line with company policy.
- To establish and maintain cleaning schedules.
- To ensure that all equipment is well maintained and is in good working order, and to make recommendations for renewal and replacement where required.
- To record and report all accidents within the location, adhering to location and company procedures.
Skills
- Extensive experience working in a kitchen or restaurant setting, ideally within a school or similar environment
- Proficiency in culinary techniques and food preparation
- Knowledge of food safety practices
- Ability to cook various cuisines and dishes
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Pay & Working Hours
£13.90 per hour, paid weekly (plus holiday pay) for the first 12 weeks, before (subject to probationary period) being offered a permanent contract with our client, at the same rate.
Approximate working hours, 8:00am-2:30pm, Monday to Friday - hours may vary depending on location.
This role is term time only, so no work required within the school holidays.

The right candidate will need to have an Enhanced DBS check for the Child Workforce, and appropriate reference and background checks. DBS checks will be paid for by V-Recruit, if you don't already hold one.
