Job summary

Shetland Islands Council is seeking a Cleaner in Charge for Brae Primary School, Brae, Shetland. The post is term-time, part-time at 15 hours per week over 39 weeks per year, with extra holiday entitlement pro rata.

The role includes maintaining cleaning material stocks, reporting faults, completing timesheets and safety checks, and mentoring relief staff. PVG scheme involvement may be required. Flexible working is possible.

Qualifications

• Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
• Able to use own initiative, particularly for delegation and dealing with routine issues.

Responsibilities

• Maintain stock of approved cleaning materials and report faulty equipment.
• Complete timesheets, inventories and safety checks.
• Assist with induction and on the job training of new and relief staff.
• Take initiative in delegating tasks and contacting relief staff as needed.
