Job summary

Wigan Council seeks a dedicated Cleaning Operative for St John’s Primary School, Mosley Common. This term-time, part-time role covers 10 hours per week, with 16:30–18:30 (16:00–18:00 on Fridays) and annual leave during school holidays.

You’ll train, follow COSHH and health and safety guidelines, operate cleaning equipment, manage supplies, and support the Local Kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have good numeracy and literacy, clear communication, and a proactive attitude, with flexibility

Qualifications

• Essential numeracy and literacy; clear communication and proactive attitude.
• Physically capable of lifting heavy equipment and working independently or in a team.
• Willingness to undertake relevant training and flexibility around school hours.

Responsibilities

• Complete training and follow health and safety and COSHH guidelines.
• Operate cleaning equipment and manage supplies.
• Carry out waste disposal and specialist cleaning during school closures.
• Maintain records and report maintenance issues.
• Work with the Local Kitchen team.
