Job summary

Notton House Academy is seeking a proactive cleaning operative to join our team. You will carry out routine cleaning across classrooms and residential areas, maintain hygiene supplies, and ensure a safe and welcoming environment for pupils aged 8-19 with diverse needs.

Excellent teamwork and reliability are essential, along with a willingness to learn and undertake training. Experience in a school setting is advantageous, and safeguarding commitments are expected as part of daily duties.

Qualifications

• Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a busy, friendly team.
• Physical capability to undertake active work (bending, lifting, stretching and operating machinery).
• A reliable, adaptable and approachable attitude.
• Willingness to undertake relevant training and use basic electronic devices for communication.
• Commitment to safeguarding child welfare and adhering to Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities policies.
• Previous experience in a professional cleaning or school setting.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled cleaning duties across designated areas (vacuuming, mopping, dusting and polishing furniture and fittings).
• Safely handle cleaning chemicals and materials in line with procedures.
• Empty waste bins and safely transport waste to designated compounds.
• Replenish essential hygiene consumables (soap, toilet paper, hand towels).
• Report any maintenance or safety concerns to the line manager.
• Record keeping of supplies. Informing office when additional supplies are required.
