Job summary

Uppingham School is seeking Cleaners to join a warm, friendly team dedicated to keeping pupil homes and communal areas tidy and welcoming. Your work directly supports a calm, comfortable environment where pupils and staff can thrive.

Shift patterns run 9:15am–2:25pm with 36 weeks per year, plus additional hours during term. A daily hot lunch is provided, and extensive benefits include Westfield Healthcare, staff discounts, and free Sports Centre membership.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cleaning procedures.
• Reasonable numeracy and literacy.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Good communication with colleagues, pupils and parents.
• Ability to organise workload and balance priorities to meet deadlines.
• Excellent attention to detail and high standards.
• Good timekeeping.
• Knowledge of health & safety requirements (desirable).
• Understanding of COSHH (desirable).
• Previous experience of using industrial cleaning equipment (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Dust, sweep and vacuum to keep pupil homes and communal spaces clean.
• Refresh carpets and shared areas with deep cleaning as needed.
• Support daily routines through meal service and laundry.
• Contribute to a welcoming, well-maintained environment for pupils and staff.
