Job description

Are you an experienced Caretaker or Site Supervisor looking for a new role within a school environment from January? Aspire People are currently recruiting School Caretakers to work across a number of schools in the West Midlands, with roles starting in January. We are seeking reliable, practical, and proactive individuals who can support the maintenance, safety, and security of school sites.

Previous experience working as a school caretaker, site supervisor or facilities assistant is highly advantageous. However, candidates with relevant experience from similar environments will also be considered.

These roles are offered on a temporary basis, with assignments varying in length. There may be opportunities to secure permanent contracts, depending on school requirements and individual performance (not guaranteed).

Key Responsibilities

• Opening and closing the school site and ensuring site security
• Carrying out basic maintenance, repairs, and health & safety checks
• Setting up rooms for lessons, meetings, and school events
• Monitoring heating, lighting, and water systems
• Liaising with contractors and reporting maintenance issues
• Ensuring the school grounds are clean, safe and well maintained
• Supporting safeguarding procedures and site safety at all times

Requirements

• Previous caretaker or site maintenance experience (school-based preferred)
• Practical DIY and maintenance skills
• Good understanding of health & safety procedures
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
• Professional and approachable manner when dealing with staff and visitors
• Willingness to work across various schools in Wolverhampton and surrounding areas
• Availability to start in January

All applicants must complete full registration with Aspire People, including providing Right to Work documentation and obtaining an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS (processed by Aspire People at a cost of 56, unless registered on the Update Service).
