Great School in North London, Barnet require a full time School Caretaker to commence a role with immediate effect.

£19,860 - £26,456 per year

School Caretaker

Work from 8am - 4pm pm each Monday to Friday

Enhanced DBS check including Children’s Barred List required

Job Purpose

School Caretaker to work with the Premises team in all matters relating to the satisfactory operation of آثار schools buildings, grounds and equipment. To be responsible for the safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children.

Security of Premises
  • Routine and non‑routine opening and closing of the school buildings and/or premises, including operation of alarms (both fire and security), reporting malfunctions as necessary and arranging for repairs to be carried out in.mask timely fashion.
  • Ensure that the buildings and site are secured when not in use; all doors and windows are to be secured and that all lights, heaters and gas controls are turned off every night.
  • Take reasonable steps to deter trespass and unauthorised parking on the site, having regard to health and safety.
  • Undertake responsibility as key holder and liaise with contractors-schema regarding opening and closing arrangements during school closure.
Cleaning and Hygiene
  • Ensure children’s toilets are checked/cleaned after lunch.
  • Ensure that caretaking/cleaning storage areas remain clean and tidy.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the premises.
  • Maintain and replenish stocks of cleaning materials, soap, paper towels, etc.
  • Store and utilise all cleaning materials in line with COSHH regulations.
  • Remove litter and graffiti from both inside and outside the buildings.
Maintenance of Furniture, Fittings and Equipment
  • Carry out repairs to furniture, fittings and equipment as necessary.
  • Assist with the seasonal exchange of equipment and related storage arrangements.
Maintenance of Buildings
  • Assist with reactive and routine repairs and maintenance work as necessary.
Handyperson Duties
  • Perform minor tasks and repairs that may require nailing, screwing and gluing-type skills.
  • Monitor the state of furniture throughout the school and undertake minor repairs.
  • Board up broken windows.
  • Make damaged or missing floor tiles safe, secure carpets or remove them to make safe.
  • Ensure that all caretaking equipment is in a safe and working condition.
  • Carry out minor alterations and improvements.
Maintenance of Grounds
  • Carry out maintenance and planting in the grounds.
  • Keep the site tidyibbons throughout the year by regularly sweeping hard areas, removing litter, leaves and other superfluous materials, and removing weeds. өнім\u2026
  • Ensure that access to the school is maintained in bad weather, keeping paths clear of snow, ice, leaves, floodwater and the like.
Health and Safety
    Be observant at all times of potential safety hazards, such as loose fluorescent light diffusers, and rectify them on discovery.
  • Work safely and report any faults, accidents, incidents or near misses to managers to maintain a healthy and safe environment for all stakeholders.
  • Adhere to all relevant rules, regulations, legislation, procedures and policies, e.g. the School’s Code of Conduct, Equal Opportunities Policy, COSHH, data protection and copyright legislation.
  • Ensure boiler checks are performed during the heating season.
  • Replace light bulbs and fluorescent tubes as necessary, applying appropriate health and safety regulations.
Porterage
  • Ensure that deliveries of equipment, furniture and materials are dealt with promptly and repositioned as required.
  • Undertake porterage of equipment, furniture and materials within the premises, including setting up seating in the hall for productions and alike.
