Essex is seeking a School Business Manager to work with the Headteacher and the Trust’s Chief Financial Officer to provide financial leadership, including planning, forecasting, budget setting, and statutory reporting. This role maintains and enhances the school’s administrative and financial procedures, advises senior management on non‑teaching matters, and supports the effective operation of the school.

The School Business Manager will work closely with the Headteacher and the Trust’s Chief Financial Officer to provide financial leadership, including planning, forecasting, budget setting, and statutory reporting. This role maintains and enhances the school’s administrative and financial procedures, advises senior management on non‑teaching matters, and supports the effective operation of the school.
• Provide financial leadership – planning, forecasting, and budget management.
• Prepare accounts and statutory reports.
• Maintain and develop financial and administrative procedures and systems in collaboration with senior management and governors.
• Advise senior management on all non‑teaching matters to support school operations.
• Line‑manage staff, motivating and inspiring teams while ensuring effective communication and prioritisation.
• Support strategic planning and decision‑making within the Senior Management Team.
• Attend Governing Body meetings and contribute to governance.
• Previous finance experience within a school setting is desirable but not essential; full training will be provided.
• Strong IT skills, resilience, honesty, and integrity.
• Ability to think quickly, meet tight deadlines, and work proactively.
