Kanawha County Schools is seeking a Bus Operator to provide safe and timely transportation for students. The role involves maintaining an orderly bus environment, reporting misconduct or mechanical issues, and completing assigned duties as needed.

The position typically follows an eight-hour day or a flexible forty-hour workweek, with performance evaluated annually by the supervisor. A valid WV CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements is required, along with CPR/First Aid certification.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Criminal background check as per WV Code.
• Must have valid WV CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements.
• Must pass WV School Bus Safety Program and tests.
• Must be able to climb in/out of bus and inspect engine.
• CPR/First Aid certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs pre/post trip inspections.
• Learns route including pick-up/drop-off locations.
• Safely uses fire extinguisher.
• Assists and supervises students with disabilities.
• Communicates with students, parents, school officials, and supervisors.
• Transports students safely to and from school daily.
• Prepares monthly mileage and maintenance reports.
