Job summary

Supply Desk in Beaconsfield is seeking a dedicated Speech & Language Therapist to support students' communication, language development and wellbeing in a welcoming school environment.

You'll assess needs, plan and deliver targeted therapy, work one-to-one and in small groups, collaborate with teachers and parents, and help tailor programmes to each pupil. A DBS check is required; start date October 2026.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
• The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with children and young people.
• The ability to assess individual needs and deliver appropriate therapy and intervention programmes.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a caseload effectively.
• A patient, flexible, and child-centred approach to supporting individual needs.
• The ability to work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and other professionals.
• A commitment to inclusion and supporting children and young people to reach their full potential.
• An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• A current enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Assess and identify students' speech, language, communication, and interaction needs.
• Plan and deliver appropriate therapy and intervention programmes tailored to individual students' needs.
• Provide one-to-one and small group support to students, helping them develop their speech, language, communication, and social interaction skills.
• Work with students across a range of abilities and needs, adapting therapy and support to meet individual requirements where appropriate.
• Support students with speech, language, and communication difficulties, including receptive and expressive language, speech sounds, social communication, and interaction needs.
• Encourage students to develop their confidence, independence, communication skills, and ability to engage positively with others.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, teaching assistants, parents, and other professionals to support students' progress and wellbeing.
• Provide advice, guidance, and practical strategies to school staff to help support students' communication needs within the classrooms.
