School Administrator
Prospect Bank Special School

Salary: £26,337 - £28,835 (pro-rata for part-time and sessional)
Hours: 27.5 per week, 40 weeks sessional

Working Pattern: Monday to Thursday 08:30 - 15:00. Friday 08:30 - 13:15.

Prospect Bank is a special school for primary age pupils located in the Leith area of the city. The school meets the needs of learners with complex, long term additional support needs where the presumption of mainstream cannot be met. The needs of learners are primarily associated with learning disability and Autism Spectrum Disorder. At Prospect Bank we have 6 classes, each class has a class teacher and support staff. Ratios of adults to children may vary as children develop their needs. We work in partnership with a range of professionals including Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Educational Psychologists, CAMHS, Community Child Health and Dental Services.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team as School Administrator. You will be providing administrative support to the Senior Management Team as well as undertaking cash handling, data management, and reception duties. A high level of IT skills and particularly of Microsoft packages is essential.

Sessional staff are paid for the total number of weeks they work each year (40) plus the number of weeks' leave they are entitled to, which depends on length of service.

School Administrators are not required during the 12 weeks of school holidays, however total salary is paid in 12 equal monthly payments, over the year.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
