Lead EMS Engineer – Rail Systems Integration
Birmingham or London | Hybrid Working

I’m looking to connect with experienced EMS / SCADA professionals ready to take on a lead role within one of the UK’s most ambitious rail infrastructure programmes.
You'll act as the technical authority and subject matter expert for the Engineering Management System (EMS) integrating over 150,000 pieces of control equipment into a single operational interface for the railway. This is a leadership position with direct reports, requiring the ability to balance technical detail with overall system responsibility.
You’ll be involved from early design through to testing, operations, and end‑state delivery working alongside design teams, managing engagement with contractors, and collaborating with the future operator to ensure the system meets operational requirements. The role combines engineering leadership, technical assurance, and stakeholder influence.

What you'll bring:
  • Proven leadership and mentoring experience within multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong background in SCADA or EMS controls, ideally across full project lifecycles.
  • Degree-qualified engineer, Chartered or working towards.
  • Sector experience from rail, power, water, nuclear, industrial manufacturing, or instrumentation and control.
  • Confidence acting as technical authority and engaging effectively with design partners, contractors, and operators.

Hybrid working is available from Birmingham or London, with a competitive package and the opportunity to shape how the UK’s next‑generation railway is monitored and controlled.
