Job description
About the role

National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) is at the heart of energy in the UK. The electricity we provide gets the nation to work, powers schools and brings energy to life. Our energy network connects the nation, so it is essential that it is continually evolving, advancing, and improving.

We’re passionate about both operating our network safely and providing highly reliable quality of supply for our customers. At the heart of achieving these outcomes is the effective control and operation of our network. The Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system is critical to the safe, secure, and economic operation of the England and Wales electricity transmission system.

As SCADA Asset Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role managing our asset information systems. You’ll lead a dedicated team of engineers who are responsible for collating and uploading asset data into the SCADA system. Your expertise will ensure the effective use and compliance of the OSI Monarch database, Historian, and display management tools.

You’ll coordinate system changes, manage Areas of Responsibility, and conduct emulator testing, driving innovation in UI/UX management to enhance user experience and system usability.

Your role will also involve resolving real-time asset database, network model, and display issues. Collaborating closely with the control room, Operations, and IT staff, you will ensure the SCADA system operates smoothly, with estimation and analysis tools delivering reliable results.

Summary of Additional Accountabilities
  • Accountable for all ET SCADA Asset Data, Network modelling, switching and Display changes, as well as recruitment and training of the team.
  • Responsible for system access requests and delivery support, Stakeholder Asset data & Display relationships and policy and process management.
  • Support with solution testing and QA.
  • Ensure SCADA asset data meets legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Ensure that the SCADA team has a reliable and tested business continuity plan in place that meets NGETs requirements.

This role is based at our office in Warwick and can be combined with hybrid working from home.

What you’ll need

You’ll have experience of Project management, change management and process efficiency (6 Sigma/Lean), as well as experience of control room deliverables, roles, and functions.

With an excellent technical understanding of the electricity industry coupled with strong management and leadership skills, experience of system & data handling, including testing in staging and production environments, as well as experience on systems integration using web technologies including MuleSoft would be an advantage.
