Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer to transform complex data into a reliable hub for a major government department. You will solve complex problems, improve platform reliability, and build scalable infrastructure in a hybrid role based in London or Manchester. The ideal candidate should have expertise in Linux, Python, cloud services, and CI/CD pipelines. Day rate ranges from £650-£675 inside IR35.

Qualifications

  • Linux expert, comfortable with VMs or containers.
  • Strong Python skills, Ruby a bonus.
  • Hands-on with databases, web servers, DNS, CDNs, queues, load balancers.
  • Experience building cloud services, AWS preferred.
  • Skilled in Terraform/CloudFormation and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiar with Kubernetes, ECS, or serverless.
  • Solid Git knowledge and security best practices.
  • Experience providing technical leadership.

Job Title: Site Reliability Engineer
Location: London or Manchester (Hybrid; 2 to 3 days per week onsite)
Clearance: Active SC Clearance
Contract Length: Initial 12 months
Day Rate: £650-£675 p/d Inside IR35

We are partnering with a major government department in their search for an experienced Site Reliability Engineer to involve in transforming complex and sensitive data into a modern, reliable data hub used across government and beyond.

You’ll work in a multidisciplinary team, solving complex problems, improving platform reliability, and building infrastructure that scales. This is a chance to have real impact on how the public sector shares data.

We’re looking for:
