Job summary

Synergize Consulting Limited is recruiting an experienced SC Cleared Policy & Standards Lead to join a major government cloud and platform infrastructure programme. The role is hybrid, based in Corsham with onsite presence 2-3 days per week, starting in October, and requires strong governance and stakeholder management across Defence and UK Government.

The successful candidate will lead policy and standards activity, guide a team of four consultants, and ensure alignment with programme strategy

Qualifications

• Valid SC clearance is essential.
• Experience on UK Defence/government programmes.
• Governance, assurance, policy, standards or regulatory environments experience.
• Ability to influence, negotiate and build consensus across multiple organisations.
• Experience on large, complex programmes with multiple suppliers/delivery partners.
• Understanding of cloud infrastructure and platform services.
• Familiarity with Secure by Design principles.
• Awareness of Data and AI governance and policy considerations.
• Understanding MOD governance structures and assurance processes.
• Experience defining operating models/governance frameworks.
• BPSS check required for the successful candidate.

Responsibilities

• Act as the Managing Authority lead for policy and standards activity across the platform.
• Provide direction and oversight to a team of four specialist policy and standards consultants.
• Set priorities and ensure policy development aligns with programme strategy and delivery.
• Lead the secretariat function for the Policies & Standards Working Group.
• Manage relationships with senior stakeholders across government and Defence, including the future policy and standards service owner.
• Support resolution of complex stakeholder issues and negotiate consensus across multiple organisations.
• Build understanding of MOD governance, policy and assurance landscape to identify approval, implementation and adoption routes.
• Ensure platform policies and standards are consistent with the wider MOD policy environment.
• Work with PMO and Target Operating Model teams to develop the future governance model.
• Provide leadership and coordination across a complex multi-supplier environment.
• Support the development and establishment of a new Data Statement of Work.
• Co-lead onboarding rehearsals and trial activities for projects moving into the MOD tenancy.
• Contribute to wider programme governance and operational readiness.

Salary: £149,500 - 149,500 per year

Requirements

• Valid SC clearance is essential.
• Candidates must be able to work on UK Defence/government programmes.
• UK nationals only.
• Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building experience, particularly with complex or challenging stakeholder groups.
• Proven experience within governance, assurance, policy, standards or regulatory environments.
• Demonstrable ability to influence, negotiate and build consensus across multiple organisations.
• Experience working autonomously within ambiguous, evolving programmes.
• Strong facilitation, negotiation and communication skills.

We are recruiting for an experienced SC Cleared Policy & Standards Lead to join a major government cloud and platform infrastructure programme supporting organisations across Defence and wider UK Government. This is a strategic role within a newly established cloud/platform capability, based hybrid in Corsham with 2-3 days per week onsite and an October 26 start. We are building the policies, standards, governance, controls and guardrails needed as customers begin onboarding, and this role offers genuine influence over how governance, policy and standards are established and adopted across a complex multi-organisation environment. This is not a policy-writing role; specialist policy and standards resources are already in place, and we need leadership, direction and stakeholder management to keep activity aligned with programme objectives. The role suits someone who enjoys strategic stakeholder management, governance and problem-solving, and who can operate comfortably within a complex government and Defence environment.
