Job summary

Meritus seeks an Engineering Project Manager to join a defence and engineering client in Portsmouth on a 12-month contract. The role requires active SC Clearance and British nationality, with a standard 37-hour week and some travel.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects on time, to quality and within budget, interfacing with customers and stakeholders while adhering to governance and health & safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering complex engineering or technical projects.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams.
• Ability to develop project plans, schedules, resource plans and work breakdown structures.
• Strong stakeholder and customer management skills.
• Experience managing project budgets, costs and financial reporting.
• Knowledge of project risk management and mitigation planning.
• Experience maintaining project schedules and resource forecasts.
• Ability to manage project changes and negotiate impacts.
• Strong communication, reporting and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of PMO, PMBOK or structured project delivery methodologies.
• Aerospace, defence or highly regulated industry experience would be advantageous.
• Active SC Clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary engineering project teams to deliver projects on quality, on time and on cost.
• Oversee full project lifecycle, ensuring delivery while maintaining governance and safety requirements.
• Manage project planning, stakeholder engagement, risk management, scheduling, budgeting and performance reporting.
