Job summary

Synergize Consulting in Reading is seeking a Systems Engineer to support, maintain, and improve enterprise infrastructure across cloud and on-premises environments. You will assist in Azure, Windows, Linux, and virtualization, working with Kubernetes/OpenShift under guidance from senior engineers.

The role emphasizes automation, IaC, monitoring, and continuous improvement, with hybrid working options and on-site requirements to support sensitive programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Up to 3 years of experience in infrastructure support, systems administration, cloud support, or technical operations.
• Basic understanding of cloud computing and enterprise infrastructure technologies.
• Demonstrable interest in infrastructure, cloud, and platform engineering.
• Desirable certifications: CompTIA Network+ or Server+; Linux Essentials or equivalent; exposure to Kubernetes, OpenShift, or container technologies.

Responsibilities

• Support the administration and operation of cloud and on-premises infrastructure environments.
• Maintain Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
• Assist with deployment, configuration, and support of Azure cloud services.
• Support virtualization platforms and enterprise hosting environments.
• Assist in administration of Kubernetes and OpenShift platforms.
• Monitor infrastructure performance, availability, and capacity.
• Support incident, problem, and service request management activities.
• Assist with backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.
• Implement and support infrastructure changes in line with standards.
• Contribute to automation and Infrastructure as Code initiatives.
• Maintain technical documentation and procedures.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to resolve issues and improve reliability.
