Job summary

• Conduct initial psychiatric assessments and risk assessments for newly admitted patients.
• Formulate treatment plans in collaboration with consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Participate in board rounds, multidisciplinary meetings, and case discussions.
• Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications, ensuring adherence to NICE guidelines.
• Manage medical emergencies and liaise with general medical teams as required.

You will contribute to safe, effective clinical care, undertake patient reviews, support treatment planning, and work closely with consultants, nursing colleagues, allied health professionals and wider community services to promote recovery and positive outcomes.

Clinical Duties:

• Conduct initial psychiatric assessments, mental state examinations, and risk assessments for newly admitted patients.
• Formulate treatment plans in collaboration with consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Participate in board rounds, multidisciplinary meetings, and case discussions.
• Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications, ensuring adherence to NICE guidelines.
• Manage medical emergencies and liaise with general medical teams as required.

Multidisciplinary Collaboration:

• Work closely with consultants, nurses, occupational therapists, psychologists, and social workers to ensure holistic patient care.
• Communicate effectively with families, carers, and external agencies involved in patient care.
• Participate in discharge planning and liaise with community mental health teams to ensure continuity of care.
