Rolls-Royce in Derby is seeking an SAP FICO Manager to govern the Finance SAP landscape, oversee data integrity, and lead the month-end close and financial reporting processes. You will drive governance for master data, chart of accounts, cost centres and profitability structures while partnering with IT on upgrades and transformations.

The role balances strategic SAP finance leadership with hands-on operational delivery and continuous improvement initiatives across the GBS SAP environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant (or equivalent) with strong post-qualification experience.
• Significant experience in SAP FI/CO implementation, support, or enhancements.
• Experience working within a Finance Shared Service environment.
• Proven experience managing both strategic SAP Finance initiatives and hands-on operational processes.
• Experience delivering large-scale data migration or SAP template rollout programmes is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Act as global SAP Finance (FI/CO) SME for processes, systems and controls.

Position Summary

The Global Business Services (GBS) SAP FICO Manager is the primary functional and technical authority for the Finance SAP landscape, governing the Chart of Accounts (CoA), master data structures, period-end processes, and finance-related system design. This role acts as the gatekeeper for all Finance master data and structural changes in SAP, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with accounting standards and organisational policies.

In addition to governance and strategic leadership, the role carries direct responsibility for the execution and control of core SAP financial processes, ensuring the operational integrity of month-end, year-end, and financial reporting activities.

The role is accountable for driving data integrity, supporting projects, advising the business on SAP financial processes, and leading the technical setup for GBS SAP-related initiatives across entities and service centres.

The role balances strategic SAP finance leadership with hands‑on operational delivery, including ownership of financial system processes, controls, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What you will be doing:

SAP Finance Governance & Master Data Leadership

• Act as the global SAP Finance (FI/CO) Subject Matter Expert, providing guidance on finance processes, systems, and controls.
• Own and govern core Finance master data, including the Chart of Accounts, Cost Centres, Profit Centres, organisational structures, and related financial hierarchies.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies.
• Lead master data governance, quality, approvals, and lifecycle management across the SAP landscape.

Financial Close, Controls & Reporting

• Manage SAP-related month-end and year-end processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial close activities.
• Oversee key financial processes including reconciliations, accruals, settlements, revaluations, and journal processing.
• Maintain period-end controls and resolve issues impacting financial reporting and data integrity.
• Support internal and external audits through the provision of reports, reconciliations, and control documentation.

SAP Projects, Change & Transformation

• Lead SAP Finance design and delivery activities for business change initiatives, system enhancements, acquisitions, divestments, and regulatory changes.
• Partner with IT and external providers on upgrades, releases, and solution development.
• Support finance data migration, integration, testing, and implementation activities.
• Provide expert input into cross-functional process and system design decisions.

Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence

• Drive improvement, automation, and optimisation initiatives across Finance processes and SAP capabilities.
• Identify and resolve complex system issues, reducing operational risk and improving efficiency.
• Manage critical SAP operational processes, including financial job scheduling, monitoring, configuration, and exception management.
• Promote best practices and leverage emerging SAP capabilities to improve business performance.

Stakeholder Management, Service Delivery & Team Development

• Serve as the primary SAP Finance contact for Shared Service Centres, Finance teams, and business stakeholders.
• Provide expert support, guidance, and issue resolution to users globally.
• Build organisational capability through training, coaching, and knowledge sharing.
• Develop and mentor Finance Analysts and future SAP Finance specialists.

Position qualifications:

• Professionally qualified accountant (or equivalent) with strong post-qualification experience.
• Significant experience in SAP FI/CO implementation, support, or enhancement roles.
• Experience working within a Finance Shared Service environment.
• Proven experience managing both strategic SAP Finance initiatives and hands‑on operational financial processes.
• Experience delivering large-scale data migration or SAP template rollout programmes is highly desirable.
