Job summary

Line Up Aviation is seeking a SAP Basis Specialist to join on an 11-month contract in Filton, UK. You will own end-to-end SAP Basis operations across Development, QA and Production, ensuring uptime, security, and change control.

Responsibilities include monitoring the SAP HANA landscape, managing TMS/ChaRM transports, applying patches, and performing RCA and performance tuning. The role requires strong English communication and experience with SAP S/4HANA, ECC 6.0, and ITSM tools.

Qualifications

• Experience in SAP Basis / NetWeaver in enterprise environments.
• Proven S/4HANA, SoH, and ECC 6.0 / Solution Manager experience.
• Expert SAP HANA administration via ST04, Cockpit, and Studio.
• Experience with SAP SUM and system refreshes.
• Familiarity with ITSM tools and ChaRM.

Job description

On behalf of our client, we are seeking to recruit a SAP Basis Specialist on an initial 11-month contract. As the SAP Basis Specialist you will be responsible for the end-to-end operational readiness, monitoring, change management, and security of our multi-tier SAP landscape across Development, Quality Assurance, and Production environments.

Role: SAP Basis Specialist

Pay: 45 per hour Via Umbrella

Location: Filton

Contract: Monday - Friday 35 hours per week, 11 months

IR35 Status: Inside

Security Clearance: BPSS

Responsibilities

• Manage full-lifecycle SAP Basis Support operations, including daily administration, system refreshes, kernel upgrade planning, and Pre/post-refresh activities.


• Administer, monitor, and optimize the SAP HANA database landscape.


• Execute end-to-end Incident Management, Problem Management, and Service Request fulfillment.


• Resolve complex system runtime errors, dump analysis, database lock contentions, and process SAP OSS notes and standard system modifications.


• Discuss and align with counterparts regarding technical activities.


• Oversee the SAP Transport Management System (TMS / ChaRM), managing transport imports and analyzing technical issues to ensure high operational stability.


• Implement technical system changes, plan Support Packages (SPS) and Enhancement Packages (EHP), and system patches in alignment with Change Advisory Board (CAB) standards.


• Perform in-depth root cause analysis (RCA) and performance tuning across ABAP, Java, and Database layers (ST04, ST03N, ST22, SMLG, SM51, SM66).


• Manage system integrations and interface architecture (including RFC destinations, ALE/IDoc interfaces, ICF nodes, and HTTPS configurations).


• Analyze EWA Reports and implement recommendations based on the technical analysis.


• Maintain SAP system security baseline configurations, SSL/TLS certificate updates, network security parameters and SAP Router configurations

Essential Skills

• Candidate dedicated SAP Basis / NetWeaver administration experience within enterprise environments or SAP technical consultancy.


• Proven track record managing SAP S/4HANA, SAP Business Suite on HANA (SoH), and legacy ECC 6.0 / Solution Manager environments.


• Expert knowledge of SAP HANA 2.0 administration via ST04, HANA Cockpit & HANA Studio


• Practical experience with SAP Software Update Manager (SUM) and System Refreshes.


• Experience utilizing ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, SAP Solution Manager/ChaRM, OneVersion).


• Comfortable operating within an Agile / Scrum framework, participating in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.


• Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical issues clearly to international, multi-functional teams.


• Highly analytical, methodical approach to troubleshooting complex infrastructure and performance bottlenecks under pressure.
