What you'll be doing

We are looking for a skilled and experienced SAP Basis consultant to join our established Basis team of 2 in the SAP technical services team. The SAP Basis consultant is responsible for implementing the portfolio of changes and services that maintain or improve Dunelm's SAP systems' reliability, availability, and performance.

The SAP Basis consultant will deliver secure solutions allowing users to fulfil everyday tasks whilst ensuring the company’s SAP systems are protected and compliant. You will work closely with other SAP functional and technical consultants, the Enterprise Architects, the Security and compliance team, the Service Desk, and Tech and business colleagues,

Responsibilities
  • Delivery of SAP implementation activities in line with service request SLAs and agile principles ways of working using Kanban boards
  • Provide technical leadership with the internal SAP tech services team, Tech and Digital teams, and other business stakeholders to undertake and / or oversee day to day delivery of SAP.
  • Implementation projects (end-to-end) from Design phase to Go-live phase.
  • Undertake the overall support and maintenance activities, ensuring all SLAs for system reliability, availability and performance are achieved.
  • Act as an internal SME to solve issues in a fast-paced environment with demanding deadlines relating to the SAP & non-SAP systems.
  • Undertake and / or oversee the identification of root causes of any issues that impact the system availability.
  • Contribute to the SAP Basis performance improvements, including technical monitoring and capacity management.
  • Support the SAP Basis tech lead in the development and implementation of the SAP roadmap and other initiatives.
  • Maximise the synergy of shared services provided by other teams to increase collaboration and delivery of changes with agile approach ways of working.
What we'll look for in you
Essential
  • System Administration: Install, configure, and maintain SAP systems including ERP, NetWeaver ABAP/JAVA, HANA, S/4HANA, Solution Manager, and SAP Web Dispatcher.
  • System Installation & Configuration: Deploy and configure SAP S/4HANA systems on-premises or in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • HANA Database Administration: Manage HANA in-memory databases, including backups, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • System Monitoring & Performance Tuning: Use tools like SAP Solution Manager and Focused Run to monitor system health and optimize performance.
  • Upgrades and Patches: Apply support packages, kernel upgrades, and enhancement packs to keep systems current.
  • Integration Support: Facilitate integration with SAP Fiori, SAP Gateway, and third-party systems.
  • Backup and Recovery: understanding of backup strategies and disaster recovery plans.
  • Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Use tools like Solution Manager to monitor system health and resolve issues.
  • Database Administration: Support MSSQL, HANA, or other databases underlying SAP systems.
  • Transport Management: Handle SAP transport requests and manage the transport directory. Good understanding of transport management tool Active Control.
Desirable
  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of SAP NetWeaver and S/4HANA architecture, operating systems (Linux/Windows), and databases.
  • Tools Proficiency: SAP Solution Manager, SAP HANA Cockpit, SAP Fiori Admin Console, SAP Cloud Connector, BTP and SAP Landscape Management (LaMa).
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex system issues.
  • Communication: Collaborate with functional teams, developers, and external vendors.
  • Certifications: SAP Basis, HANA, S/4HANA and BTP certifications are often preferred.
  • Experience: Experience in SAP implementation, upgrade, patching and one or two S/4HANA implementation, migration/transformation.
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration abilities.
  • Exposure to Agile delivery methodology using Kanban on Jira
  • Experience in using EPI-USE Archiving and Data refresh tools.
