Job summary

Avantra is seeking an experienced SAP Basis Automation Engineer to join its SAP Engineering team. You will analyse SAP software, design and ship automations, and help advance Avantra's observability platform across hybrid SAP landscapes for multiple customers.

The role emphasizes strong SAP Basis expertise, automation scripting, and knowledge of Linux and cloud SAP technologies, with opportunities to influence product direction and stay at the forefront of cybersecurity practices.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of experience in running and supporting SAP landscapes.
• Deep SAP Basis expertise across multiple customers with hands-on work and decision making.
• Programming, scripting or low-code automation experience (JavaScript, Python, PowerShell, Ansible) and knowledge of Linux.
• Exposure to SAP cloud technologies (e.g. SAP BTP, RISE with SAP) and security/compliance in SAP.

Responsibilities

• Analyse SAP software on-premises and in the cloud to design and specify new automations.
• Develop automations to solve SAP operations problems, including scripting, testing, documentation and shipping the software.
• Provide a strong product opinion for future problems and solutions for Avantra's SAP landscapes.
• Install, configure and maintain SAP software to replicate real-life scenarios and support product development.
• Stay up-to-date with SAP technologies, best practices and cybersecurity.

As we continue to grow, we are expanding our SAP Engineering team with a new SAP Basis Automation Engineer. SAP Engineering at Avantra is mostly about engineering; analysing and developing solutions that are shipped on our platform, but we also play a key part in the product; identifying the problems we can solve and guiding the development of our platform.

The person we are looking for has strong experience in running SAP software for multiple customers. They will have strong SAP Basis experience, and must use automation and scripting to achieve their goals, whilst still having dreams of what else they wish they could build to help them in their role.

Responsibilities

• Analyse SAP software on-premises and in the cloud to design and specify new automations and solve observability problems

• Develop automations to solve SAP operations problems, including scripting and development, testing, documentation and shipping the software

• Provide a strong product opinion for what problem we solve next, how we solve it, and what you would want if you were using Avantra to run SAP landscapes

• Install, configure and maintain SAP software to replicate real-life cutting-edge scenarios and support the continued development of Avantra

• Stay up-to-date and knowledgeable about the latest SAP technologies and developments, best practices and cybersecurity as well as SAP-adjacent technologies

What You Bring

• More than five years of experience in running and supporting SAP landscapes

• Deep SAP Basis expertise, ideally gained in a service provider environment or across multiple SAP customers with hands-on work and decision making

• Programming, scripting or low-code automation experience (e.g. JavaScript, Python, PowerShell, Avantra automations, or Ansible) and knowledge of Linux

• Exposure to SAP cloud technologies (eg. SAP Business Technology Platform, RISE with SAP, SAP Core AI, Joule, or Clean Core projects)

• Experience with technical security and compliance in SAP, perhaps from answering auditors requests or working in a regulated environment

• Hands-on experience with observability, automation or security tools like SAP Solution Manager, SAP Cloud ALM, or those from third-parties

• Excellent communication skills to explain complex security issues to both engineers and executives
