Sample Reception Officer

Join RPS as a Sample Reception Officer in Bedford. Full‑time permanent position, 3pm‑11pm shift. Responsible for overseeing incoming work, reviewing and booking samples in LIMS, ensuring correct details and client requirements are met.

About The Team

RPS Laboratories is a team of Analysts, Chemists, and Technicians operating from purpose‑built facilities. The Bedford lab holds UKAS accreditation for PFAS analysis.

About You

Key member of Laboratories business, collaborate with clients and provide analytical support during remediation and routine monitoring.

Your Responsibilities
  • Receiving and unpacking deliveries of samples.
  • Logging samples into LIMS accurately.
  • Recording receiving temperatures and checking for deviations.
  • Ensuring correct paperwork and purchase order numbers.
  • Storing samples in correct locations timely.
  • Reviewing storage space usage.
  • Liaising with Project Coordination Team for disposal.
  • Performing basic sample preparation and determination.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Interest in science; related qualifications preferable.
  • Experience in fast‑paced environment desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and pressure management.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Lab experience advantageous.
  • Experience with LIMS software desirable.
