Job description

We're currently recruiting for a Sample Coordinator to join our Process Development team. In this role, you will provide essential laboratory activities and services supporting the high-quality scientific work conducted at OXB, playing a key part in advancing our mission and making a real difference.

Responsibilities
  • Perform Sample Coordinator duties for the Process Development department, including receipt, issuing, packaging, and shipment of samples from PD, subcontractors, OXB sites, and customers.
  • Carry out sample inventory – maintain freezer logs, implement efficient 'check-in/check-out' tracking, oversee storage and disposal, and monitor freezer capacity for upcoming projects.
  • Coordinate sample requests and/or control materials for analytical and external testing – ensure timely delivery of samples for assays, liaise with internal teams and handle discrepancies.
  • Maintain cold storage units within PD, including freezer defrost and fridge/freezer cleaning.
  • Support continuous improvement – implement innovative storage and labelling solutions, and drive improvement of sample management processes and systems.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to facilitate analytical activities and ensure alignment with departmental goals, deadlines, and safety standards.
  • Undertake additional duties as required for the efficient running of company and PD operations.
Qualifications

  • Maths & English GCSE as a minimum requirement.
  • Solid computer skills (including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Understanding of laboratory health and safety requirements.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience in maintaining or setting up databases and/or experience in regulated environments (desirable).
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience or equivalent experience gained elsewhere and/or experience in handling biological and chemical samples.
