Cairn Research is a leading designer and manufacturer of advanced optical and imaging solutions for the life sciences. We partner with world‑class researchers, laboratories, and institutions, providing everything from individual components to fully integrated microscopy and imaging systems. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a driven and dynamic Sales Representative to expand our reach across the UK and beyond.

About the Role

In this exciting and varied sales role, you will be responsible for growing Cairn’s market presence and revenue across the UK, with additional opportunities to support and develop our European reseller network. You will represent both Cairn’s own product portfolio and a range of leading third‑party brands, covering hardware, components, and complete system solutions.

Your goal will be to develop strong customer relationships, identify opportunities, and guide researchers, microscopists, and integrators toward the right tools for their science.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and grow sales of Cairn products and third‑party imaging components/systems across the UK market
  • Build strong relationships with academic, biotech, and industrial customers
  • Identify and qualify new opportunities, from component‑level sales to fully tailored systems
  • Work closely with application specialists, product managers, and support teams to provide exceptional customer experience
  • Attend trade shows, site visits, demonstrations, and exhibitions, representing the Cairn brand
  • Maintain accurate sales pipeline, forecasting, and reporting
  • Support and manage UK and European resellers, ensuring training, communication, and joint sales activity where required.
About You
  • Motivated, proactive, and commercially minded
  • Confident communicating with scientists and technical stakeholders
  • Experienced in a technical sales, microscopy, imaging, or life science environment
  • Comfortable travelling to customer sites and industry events (UK and occasional EU travel)
  • Able to work independently while being part of a supportive team
  • A relationship‑builder with excellent presentation and communication skills

A background in life sciences, optics, microscopy, or imaging is highly advantageous, but strong sales capability with a willingness to learn will also be considered.
