Sales Manager - Waste & Recycling Services
We’re looking for a driven and commercially focused Sales Manager to lead a successful sales team within our waste services division. This role will take ownership of performance, strategy, and client relationships — ensuring growth, retention, and exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate a team of Sales Representatives and office staff to achieve and exceed sales and growth targets.
- Analyse and report on sales performance, presenting findings to the Head of Sales.
- Develop and execute account management strategies to strengthen relationships and secure repeat business.
- Collaborate with the operations team to create cost‑effective commercial solutions.
- Coach and develop the sales and customer service teams to deliver an excellent client experience.
- Resolve customer and contractual issues effectively, ensuring smooth operational delivery.
- Identify and assess market risks and opportunities, recommending strategic improvements.
- Maintain accurate sales and customer data for performance tracking.
- Benchmark competitors to ensure market competitiveness.
- Support the marketing strategy and represent the company at trade and industry events.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety and other relevant regulations.
Person Specification
- GCSE/NVQ (or equivalent) with strong English and Maths.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience managing a team of 5+ in a sales‑driven environment (waste or construction industry preferred).
- Proven success in B2B sales with strong negotiation and closing skills.
- Excellent local geographical knowledge.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Highly organised with the ability to plan, prioritise, and meet deadlines.
- Confident communicator and relationship builder.
- Strong commercial and financial awareness.
- IT proficient (Office 365, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, Teams).
- Full UK driving licence.
