Job Title : Sales Manager

Location : Poole

Salary : £40,000 (OTE £55,000 – to be discussed)

Hours : Monday to Saturday – day off in the week

We are seeking an experienced and driven Sales Manager to lead the launch of this new brand within our client’s expanding portfolio. With the brands exciting range of electric and next-generation vehicles, this role is ideal for a Sales Manager who wants to lead the charge in emerging automotive technology.

This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious candidate to build a department from the ground up, drive exceptional sales performance and play a key role in establishing the brand as a successful new addition to the group.

Our client is a privately owned motor retail business established in Poole in 1971. They proudly represent 4 brands across 12 dealerships located in Dorset, Hampshire, Somerset, and Wiltshire.

The Role

As Sales Manager, you will be responsible for leading the sales team to achieve maximum vehicle sales, profitability, and exceptional customer satisfaction. You will ensure that every customer enjoys a first‑class experience while maintaining manufacturer and company standards. You will also play a key role in introducing customers to the brands growing electric vehicle range and positioning the brand as a leader in sustainable mobility locally. This is a hands‑on leadership role ideal for an experienced Sales Manager ready to shape a new dealership’s success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive the sales team to achieve and surpass vehicle sales targets and profitability goals
  • Introduce, manage, and follow up on sales prospects to meet agreed performance levels
  • Ensure pre‑delivery inspections and preparation work are completed accurately and on time
  • Report weekly and monthly performance ratios versus targets to the Chief Executive
  • Promote training, coaching, and development of Sales Executives
  • Maintain accurate stock availability information and communicate operational sales updates
  • Ensure all customers are offered appropriate test drives
  • Support Sales Executives in preparing and presenting offers and deals
  • Present all finance options, accessories, add‑ons, and extended warranties
  • Second‑face customers to maximise conversion and ensure all finance avenues are explored
  • Ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction in line with dealership and manufacturer expectations
  • Uphold company and brand standards at all times
  • Procure appropriate stock and manage pricing in line with market conditions
  • Accurately value part‑exchange vehicles to protect profitability
  • Market and sell trade vehicles efficiently, escalating any potential loss
  • Audit sales transactions for compliance with company processes and regulatory standards
  • Report manufacturer bonus performance and liaise with Accounts regarding reconciliation and outstanding funds
Candidate Requirements
  • Excellent communication skills, both face to face and over the phone
  • Ability to qualify customer needs, overcome objections, and close sales
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Good understanding of consumer and vehicle legislation and current trade practices
  • Confident and accurate used vehicle valuation skills
  • Flexible availability to support sales activities as needed
  • Commitment to ongoing training and development
