Job description

An established and growing business based in Northampton is looking to appoint a Sales Ledger / Credit Control Clerk to join their friendly finance team. This is a hands‑on, varied role where you'll play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth running of customer accounts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of customer accounts, ensuring balances are up to date and payments are received on time.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers and internal departments to resolve queries efficiently.
  • Support the preparation of reports to assist with the month-end process.
  • Process incoming payments, allocate receipts, and maintain accurate records.
  • Produce customer statements and respond to copy invoice requests.
  • Assist with setting up new customer accounts and maintaining existing information.
  • Support the finance team with ad hoc administrative and reporting tasks when required.
About You:
  • Experience within a finance, sales ledger or credit control position.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence when dealing with customers.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in your work.
  • Competent using Excel and general finance systems.
  • A proactive team player who enjoys taking ownership and solving problems.
