About the Role:

The Role: Sales Director, Energy Transition & Sustainability Solutions (Financial Institutions)

The Team: This position plays a pivotal role in managing and enhancing the penetration of our Energy Transition, Sustainability and Services (ETSS) offerings into the financial segment in Europe, reporting to the Head of Europe Financial Institutions (FI) segment. The focus is on identifying persona‑specific pain points and needs of clients; understanding how the S&P products meet these needs in order to deliver high‑quality energy transition & sustainability solutions to FI clients; coordination and collaboration across teams to drive market penetration strategies that enhance the value and appeal of our Energy Transition products to FI clients. The product suite spans sustainability related data, analytics and reporting services, as well as research and insights regarding the energy transition. There will be an emphasis on leading the end‑to‑end sales process with new clients.

The Impact: The Sales Director, ETSS, will be a key player in delivering Energy Transition and Sustainability Solutions to FIs in Europe, as part of a key strategic initiative of “Energy Transition to Financial Institutions” within S&P Global Commodity Insights. This role demands a business‑oriented candidate with exceptional communication skills and a strong affinity for revenue generation. The successful candidate will be instrumental in crafting and implementing market penetration strategies with new FI clients for S&P’s suite of ETSS products.

Role & Responsibilities:
  • Identify and engage new potential clients in the financial services sector focused on energy transition and sustainability initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop client‑specific relationship strategies, create tailored solutions and proposals that meet client requirements, and manage the end‑to‑end sales cycle.
  • Contribute to the development of commercial strategy specific to the market requirements of the territory and client base.
  • Achieve sales targets and contribute to the overall growth of the ETSS portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders to remain on top of sector and thematic market trends.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations, technologies, and best practices related to energy transition and sustainability.
  • Represent S&P Global externally as an expert in energy transition & sustainability, specifically within the financial sector.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, environmental science, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of client‑facing experience, with a strong understanding of how to manage an end‑to‑end sales cycle independently including client planning, running prospect campaigns, building client relationships, diagnosing client needs, pitching relevant tailored solutions, and successfully closing out contracts.
  • Proven experience in sales, preferably in the realm of data, analytics, services, SaaS to the financial services sector, and focused on Energy Transition and sustainability.
  • Strong understanding of energy transition concepts and technologies.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple internal stakeholders across various functions and divisions within a complex organization.
  • Highly organized, business‑oriented, with excellent communication skills and a strong affinity for revenue generation.
  • Appetite for immersive learning to become technically proficient in S&P’s suite of ETSS products and how they meet persona‑specific needs.
  • Strong discipline around sales process including creating and developing pitches to clients, managing the sales cycle and internal CRM reporting.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
