The role

We are actively looking for a sales director in the UK for expansion of our Trade Finance initiative. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic finance professional to shape the market landscape, define the commercial strategy, and drive the success of a high-impact business that strengthens DP World’s position as a global trade enabler.

DP World Trade Finance represents a unique differentiator and key value driver for customers engaged in global trade by seamlessly combining logistics expertise with innovative financial solutions. By integrating trade finance into our broader logistics ecosystem, DP World strengthens its position as a true end-to-end enabler of global trade, helping customers move goods more efficiently while optimizing their working capital. In this role, you will work closely with DP World’s logistics teams to deliver tailored financial solutions to our strategic customers, while leading the launch and scale‑up of the Trade Finance initiative across the market.

You will be supported by a global trade finance team that will include other country directors, credit managers and support staff to make sure that once you have made the initial approach things can run smoothly. You will also work with our European commercial teams who will provide leads and customers to speak to, thus creating a circular loop of business leads from both your team and the commercial team. You will also collaborate with the logistics teams to make sure that once the customer has signed up to the trade finance their supply chain needs are supported throughout the journey.

Initially the role will be looking at capturing new customers and increasing the profile of the initiative with clients. As the role and customer list grows you will eventually be managing a team and developing a long‑term strategy which dovetails with the global objectives.

Qualifications and experience
  • Extensive experience as a relationship manager from within the banking or financial services sector.
  • A good understanding of trade finance and how it impacts the global logistics trade.
  • Strong client‑management skills and comfortable with developing new customer relationships.
  • A long‑term vision that prioritises customer relationships over short‑term sales.
  • A strong understanding of balance sheets, credit reports and comfortable with providing risk analysis.
  • Good stakeholder‑management skills and the ability to manage international stakeholders such as credit, operations, compliance, legal, risk, insurance and growth.
  • Experience of collaborating with international support teams which will include marketing, communications and IT etc.
