Sales Director – Leading Branded Food Manufacturer

Leading the Sales Function with direct responsibility for limited number of major multiple accounts

Office Based – Basingstoke, with potential for Work from Home 1-2 days per week

We are looking for a talented and ambitious Sales Director to join this fast-growing food business.

Reporting to the Board, you will be responsible for overseeing the whole sales function whilst assuming direct responsibility for a number of key major multiple accounts.

Role / Responsibilities
  • Lead and direct all colleagues within the sales team – selecting, training and developing individuals to achieve business targets / objectives.
  • Identify and agree an annual sales plan / budget for all customers.
  • Effectively manage / oversee all sales activities and provide a monthly report detailing sales volume and value performance against previous years and budget – highlighting successes / opportunities and concerns / threats.
  • Act as the primary interface between the company and relevant customers (you will assume direct responsibility for a portfolio of named, high profile customers).
  • Assume responsibility for monthly, quarterly and full year sales forecasting.
  • Utilise data from customers, consumers, market and category intelligence to analyse and improve performance.
  • Continuously seek new customer opportunities.
  • Support customers by delivering clear sales, marketing and promotional plans.
  • Promote new products; agree / negotiate sales prices and product ranges.
  • Work closely with the Finance Director to ensure all new listing opportunities and proposed promotions are properly costed.

The role is full time, 37.5 hours normal working week, predominantly office based, playing a full and active role in the overall management of the business as a member of the Senior Management Team.

The Individual
  • Target driven and results / performance orientated - resilient and determined to succeed.
  • Financially numerate with analytical and problem-solving skills. Good commercial awareness and acumen.
  • Significant sales experience within a branded FMCG Business – ideally food.
  • Proven track record in a senior (decision making) role within a general management environment. (Leading / contributing to the overall running of a business)
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills (both written and verbal) – able to communicate cross functionally both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrable capability in leading, directing / managing and motivating colleagues to achieve agreed stretching but realistic objectives.
  • Capable of building trust with all stakeholders (Shareholders, Directors, Colleagues, Customers and Suppliers)
  • Full driving licence and happy to conduct regular customer and retail store visits.

The successful candidate will be rewarded with an excellent package that includes a basic salary of up to £110K (dependent on skills and experience), plus Bonus & Profit Related Pay, Laptop and Phone.
