Job summary

Nicolas is a high street drinks retailer specialising in premium wines, beers and spirits, seeking a customer-focused sales assistant to join their UK stores. You will generate sales, advise customers on product choices and food pairings, and support events and loyalty initiatives.

The role offers a permanent contract as either full-time or part-time, with a guaranteed monthly salary for full-time (£2,000 gross) or an hourly rate for part-time (£12.75 per hour).

Qualifications

• Retail experience is required.
• Excellent customer service skills are essential.
• Some knowledge of wines and spirits is a plus; willingness to learn.
• Willingness to work weekdays and weekends.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Generate sales in a proactive manner.
• Advise customers on products and ideal food matches.
• Encourage customers through store events, offers and loyalty schemes.
• Work alone with confidence or as part of a team.
• Merchandise the shop floor and window displays.
• Maintain stock accuracy and stock taking.
• Implement and understand promotions.
• Ensure the store is clean and tidy at all times.
• Attend training sessions when required.
• Comply with the company code of conduct and health and safety practices.

The main job responsibilities

• Generating sales in a proactive manner.
• Advising our customers on the best product for their requirements and ideal food matches.
• Encouraging customers through store-specific events, offers and our loyalty scheme.
• Working alone with confidence or efficiently as part of a team.
• Merchandising the shop floor and window displays.
• Ensuring accurate stock management and stock taking.
• Implementing and understanding promotions.
• Ensuring that the store is clean and tidy at all times.
• Attending training sessions when required.
• Responsible retail – learning the company code of conduct, health and safety best practices, alcohol sales law and taking a personal license exam.

The ideal candidate will have

• Sales or other retail experience.
• Great customer service skills.
• Some wine and spirits knowledge and the willingness to learn more.
• A can do attitude and the ability to solve problems under pressure.
• The ability and willingness to work alone or as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work weekdays and weekends.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Lots of enthusiasm for the drinks industry.
• The right to work within the UK.

Job Types

Job Types: Permanent position, either part-time or full-time. Pay: Guaranteed £2,000 gross per month for full-time / £12.75 per hour part-time.
