A recruitment agency is seeking a motivated Sales Account Manager in Belfast to oversee key customer accounts and drive profitable sales growth. The successful candidate will engage in consultative selling, manage portfolios, and build strong customer relationships. We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Sales Account Manager to manage and develop key customer accounts while driving profitable sales growth. The role is focused on building strong customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and contributing to the achievement and maximisation of agreed budgeted EBITDA through effective account management and consultative selling.
Deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual EBITDA, cash flow, and budgeted sales targets using effective sales techniques and approved sales procedures.
Manage key accounts against agreed targets, including completion of mandatory face-to-face sales calls each month.
Identify, open, and develop new trading accounts within the assigned territory.
Maintain and execute a structured sales plan, mapping actions and timelines required to achieve growth.
Maintain a high level of product knowledge, including attendance at relevant product and sales training.
Negotiate contracts and close agreements to maximise profitability.
Continuously identify new market, sector, and product sales opportunities.
Liaise with Business Development Managers to maximise sales opportunities.
Monitor, evaluate, and report on competitor activity to identify risks and opportunities.
Contribute to product and industry development initiatives to maximise future sales potential.
Work closely with internal sales team members to ensure customer requirements are fulfilled efficiently and effectively.
Complete daily visit reports to enable effective follow-up by sales support teams.
Prepare and submit monthly sales reports within defined timelines, including analysis of territory performance and supporting data.
Proactively support sector targets, including the management and reduction of bad debt.
Contribute to the budgeting process by forecasting sales and profit within the assigned sales area.
Ensure compliance with company quality assurance procedures and all relevant legal requirements.
Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by Sector or Depot Management.
Desirable
Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
Essential
Proven experience as a Sales Account Manager or in a similar sales role.
Full driving licence (held for a minimum of 12 months).
Essential / Desirable
Previous experience as an Account Manager, ideally within the chemical industry or a related technical sector.
Proven track record of building sales and developing customer relationships in a competitive market.
Experience of consultative selling approaches.
Professional, experienced sales account manager with strong time management and territory planning skills.
Strong commercial negotiation and project management capability.
Understanding of the Irish chemical distribution market and related industries (desirable).
Highly organised, methodical, and detail-oriented.
Commercially astute and results-focused.
Strong verbal, written, and IT skills with CRM and reporting systems.
Self-motivated with the ability to prioritise duties and opportunities effectively.
Strong internal and external relationship builder.
Team-focused, able to collaborate across departments and functions.
Compliance and quality aware, with a strong work ethic.
Prepared to be based at the Belfast depot at least one day per week (minimum 3–4 hours).
Comply with and actively promote all statutory and company health and safety policies.
Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with company policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
