Job summary

Primrose bank & Ewood Medical Centre in Blackburn is recruiting a salaried GP to join a supportive multidisciplinary team across two sites. The role offers 4-6 sessions per week on a 1-year fixed-term basis with potential to become permanent after review.

You will provide a full range of primary care services under the NHS GMS contract, including home visits, admin work, QOF activities and quality improvement initiatives within a forward-thinking practice.

Qualifications

  • Full GMC Registration and registration on the Performers List are essential.
  • Proof of medical degree and CCT or equivalent qualifications.
  • Experience in Primary Care and continuing professional development are essential.

Job summary

Primrose bank & Ewood Medical Centre is a forward thinking and high achieving training practice serving approximately 9200 patients in Blackburn with Darwen. We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic 4-6 sessions salaried GP for 1 year fixed term leading to permanent after review to join our supportive and well established team across both sites.

This is a newly created post, providing additional GP capacity to support rising patient demand and continue to provide timely access to care for our population.

We operate a well-established total triage model using Accurx, enabling us to manage demand safely and effectively. Our multidisciplinary team, including, GP partners, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Clinical Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician, ensures GP workload remains focused on patients with the greatest clinical need.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a salaried GP who will work as an autonomous practitioner providing high quality, evidence based, primary care services.

You will undertake a full range of general medical services in accordance with the NHS Contract including home visits, appropriate administrative work such as investigations and correspondence, as well as QOF and quality work.

You will adhere to General Medical Council standards and contribute to effective practice management, maintaining a positive and collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for providing high-quality medical services to the practice population in line with the GMS contract. You will adhere to General Medical Council standards for Good Medical Practice, contribute to effective practice management, and maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with the multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities & Clinical Duties
  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based medical care

  • Participate in Home Visits
  • Manage own admin lists including pathology, investigations and correspondence
  • Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical records
  • Support QOF delivery, clinical audit, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Contribute to clinical governance, significant event reviews and audits
Administrative & Organisational Duties
  • Process referrals, repeat prescriptions, and associated admin tasks
  • Contribute to medicines optimisation across the Practice
  • Attend and contribute to practice meetings
  • Support partners in achieving strategic aims and service development
  • Adhere to practice policies, protocols, and regional directives
