Job summary

Job description

We are a friendly and supportiverural dispensing practice seeking a motivated and enthusiastic GP to join ourteam. We work hard to maintain a supportive Partnership and healthy work-life balance, with flexibility to accommodate caring responsibilities.Home visits are infrequent, and the number of appointments is set at asafe and reasonable level.

The successful candidate will work 8sessions a week which includes duty doctor rotation (one day per week).

Main duties of the job

To work as an autonomouspractitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practicepopulation, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complyingwith the PMS contract.

Furthermore, thepost-holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice,contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example,maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

About us

Upwell Health Centre is awell-established, caring, forward-thinking practice in the pretty village ofUpwell which is close to Wisbech, Downham Market, and Ely, and is convenientfor Peterborough and Kings Lynn. We have11,000 patients and have an on-site hybrid pharmacy.

You will be part of a supportiveteam with 5 other GPs, 2 ANPs, a specialist LTC nurse, a paramedic, anexcellent nursing team, and an efficient administration and management team.

We are an activemember of the Fens and Brecks PCN which includes a clinical pharmacist,pharmacy technicians, paramedics, social prescribers, and first contactphysiotherapists. We are proud to be aGP training practice and have a strong teaching and supervision ethos. We are keen to support the development ofspecial interests.

Job responsibilities

Primary responsibilities

  • The delivery of highly effective medical care tothe entitled population.
  • The provision of services commensurate with thePMS contract.
  • Generic prescribing adhering to local andnational guidance.
  • Effective management of long-term conditions.
  • Processing of administration in a timely manner,including referrals, repeat prescription requests, and other associatedadministrative tasks.
  • On a rotational basis, undertake telephonetriage and duty doctor roles.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records inconjunction with good practice, policy, and guidance.
  • Working collaboratively, accepting an equalshare of the practice workload.
  • Adhere to best practice recommended throughclinical guidelines and the audit process.
  • Contribute to the successful implementation ofcontinuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice.
  • Accept delegated responsibility for a specificarea (or areas) or the QOF.
  • Attend and contribute effectively to practicemeetings as required.
  • Contribute effectively to the development andmaintenance of the practice including clinical governance, training, financialmanagement, and HR.

  • Participate in practice audits as requested bythe audit lead.
  • Participate in local initiatives to enhanceservice delivery and patient care.
  • Participate in the review of significant andnear-miss events applying a structured approach, i.e., root cause analysis.
