A leading healthcare provider in West Bromwich is seeking a permanent salaried GP to join their team. The practice focuses on high-quality care in a diverse community, addressing health issues such as poverty and migrant health. Successful candidates will engage in various clinical responsibilities, promote holistic care, and participate in a collaborative team environment. The ideal GP will have excellent communication skills, be registered with the GMC, and have a commitment to lifelong learning.
We are an innovative and caring, teaching andtraining PMS practice aiming to provide high quality care for an inner cityarea which has a vibrant and markedly diverse population, facing many of theexciting challenges and interests associated with health issues related to poverty,migrant health, multi-morbidity and varying culture and ethnicity. You will have the opportunity to work with the homeless service in Birmingham. We are looking for a permanent 6 session salariedGP to join our team and to bring with them a good team spirit and willingnessto contribute to the delivery of care.
The practice has been inthe Cape Hill area of Smethwick for over 50 years. It has grown into a GPpartnership and developed to become one of the most comprehensive primaryhealth care organisations in greater Birmingham. The practice moved to apurpose-built health centre in 2001 which was further extended to accommodatethe growing team. We are part of the Birmingham Cross City ClinicalCommissioning Group. The practice has approximately 12,100 patients with a teamof 6 partners, 4 part time salaried GPs, nursing team with ANPs, NPs, PNs andHCAs, link worker and chaplain, an administrative team and IT support. We arean innovative and caring teaching practice which is very in tune with the localneeds and responsive to its needs. Holistic care is an important part of thepractices ethos, we have link workers who care for the social aspects ofpatients lives, and a chaplain who see patients of all faiths and no faith tohelp with their spiritual and cultural needs through crises.
Clinicalresponsibilities:
Inaccordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will makehim/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgeryconsultations and emergencies, telephone consultations and queries, triaging,visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions anddealing with queries, patient test results, patient, referral lettersNHS/private, paperwork and correspondence in a timely manner;
Makingprofessional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whetherself-referred or referred from other health care workers within theorganisation;
Recordingclear and contemporaneous IT based consultation notes to agreed standards;
Collectingdata for audit purposes;
Compilingand issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoidinghand-written prescriptions whenever possible);
Prescribingin accordance with locally agreed or national guidelines.
Ingeneral the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties andresponsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
Other responsibilities withthe Practice:
Teachingand training of doctors and nurses.
Awarenessof and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g.prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety, annual QOFAssessment of the Practice.
Acommitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based bestpractice;
Participatein the appraisal process.
Contributingto evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation.
Contributingto the development of computer-based patient records.
Attendingtraining, Practice meetings and events organised by the practice or otheragencies, where appropriate.
Meetall tight timescales/deadlines for audits and written returns to ensure thatthe Practice meets quality standards and receives the designated funding (e.g.Quarterly Enhanced Services returns, annual QOF audit etc.)

Inthe performance of the duties outlined in this Job Description, the post-holdermay have access to confidential information relating to patients and theircarers, practice staff and other healthcare workers. They may also have accessto information relating to the practice as a business organisation. All suchinformation from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential.

Contributeto the effectiveness of the team by reflecting on own and team activities andmaking suggestions on ways to improve and enhance the teams performance;
Workeffectively with individuals in other agencies to meet patients needs;
Effectivelymanage own time, workload and resources. He/she will also contribute to theoverall team-working of the Practice putting the needs of the Practice first.

Contribution to the planning and implementationof services
Thepost-holder will:
Applypractice policies, standards and guidance;
Discusswith other members of the team how the policies, standards and guidelines willaffect own work;
Participatein audit where appropriate.
Workwith the partners and management team to achieve standards of quality,performance standards, and targets without compromising levels of patienthealthcare.
Contributetowards the development and implementation of new standards, policies andprocedures that are/will be required of GP practices now and in the future (asdirected by NHS/ DoH/ CQC/ CCG, new legislation etc.)
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
