Job summary

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is seeking a Salaried GP to join a forward-thinking practice in Denton. The post covers 6 clinical sessions per week with one day allocated to 12-8pm duties, and on-call duties from 8am to 6:30pm on a rotating basis.

You will be part of a well-supported team across two sites, delivering high-quality primary care and contributing to continuous improvement and governance within the practice.

Responsibilities

• Deliver highly effective medical care to the entitled population.
• Provide services commensurate with the primary care contract.
• Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance.
• Effective management of long-term conditions.
• Process administration including referrals and repeat prescriptions.
• On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and collaborate with the team.

Job description

We are a forward thinking practice looking for a 6 session salaried GP. This role will also include working one day from 12-8pm., Core responsibilities of the Salaried GP. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

Core responsibilities of the Salaried GP.

• a. The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
• b. The provision of services commensurate with the primary care contract
• c. Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
• d. Effective management of long-term conditions
• e. Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks
• f. On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles
• g. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance. Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
• i. Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process, The following are the core responsibilities of the Salaried GP. The role also will require one day Duty Doctor On-Call from 8am to 6.30pm and one other seperate day working 12-8pm.

• k. Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF
• l. Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required
• m. Contribute effective to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training
• n. Ensure compliance with the appraisal process
• o. Prepare and complete the revalidation process
• p. Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team
• q. Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines
• r. Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure
• s. Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies
• t. Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvement
• u. Regular requirement to supervise junior clinical staff
