A healthcare organization in Cheltenham is seeking a motivated Salaried General Practitioner to join their friendly team. As participants in the new National General Practice Pilot (NGPP) you will have the chance to help Yorkleigh, working in collaboration with our PCN colleagues, shape the future of General Practice and is an excellent opportunity for a motivated GP who values high-quality clinical care, strong teamwork and a positive work‑life balance.
The salaried GP will provide high‑quality, patient‑centred primary care as part of the practice’s clinical team. Responsibilities include consulting with patients for acute, chronic and preventive healthcare needs, managing undifferentiated presentations and ensuring safe follow‑up and continuity of care. The role involves face‑to‑face and remote consultations, requesting and interpreting investigations, completing medication reviews, prescribing within governance policies and undertaking home visits when required. The GP will maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to safeguarding by adhering to local and statutory policies.
The postholder will work closely with the multidisciplinary team, including nursing, pharmacy, ANP and social prescribing staff, to deliver coordinated care. They will support the practice in meeting QOF, Enhanced Services and contractual requirements, and take part in clinical meetings, audits, significant event reviews and quality improvement work. Administrative tasks such as reviewing results, processing prescriptions, actioning correspondence and managing clinical queries are part of the role. Participation in the practice rota, including duty doctor sessions where needed, is expected, alongside maintaining professional development in line with GMC revalidation.
Yorkleigh Surgery prides itself on creating a warm, welcoming environment for staff and patients. We provide quality clinical care to approximately 8,050 patients and have worked to establish close connections within the local community, including nursing and residential homes, pharmacies, the District Nursing Team, and other healthcare professionals. We are also proud to be part of Central PCN, named PCN of the Year at the 2024 General Practice awards. Alongside our GP Partners, our clinical team consists of two salaried GPs, one Advanced Nurse Practitioner, two Practice Nurses, one HCA and one Phlebotomist as well as the extended team of Pharmacists, Social Prescribers and First Contact Practitioners. They are supported by a committed team of care navigators, administrative support, and managerial team.
As a smaller team we work collaboratively to ensure we are achieving the high standards that we attain to and are providing care to our patients to be proud of. To encourage an ethos of us working together as a team, we arrange bi‑monthly socials, have small gifts at special times of the year and have a big, post‑Christmas celebration.
