We are initially looking for 2 sessions per week, increasing to 4 sessions (demand dependant). We are happy to discuss the working pattern with the successful candidate.

As one of our Salaried GPs, you will provide high-quality, patient-centred general medical services as part of our wider clinical team.
The role will include a mixture of face‑to‑face, telephone and video consultations, together with appropriate home/care home visits and the usual clinical responsibilities associated with general practice.
You will not have a personally assigned patient list. However, on your working days you will contribute fairly to the practices clinical workload, including prescriptions, correspondence, results and other associated clinical administration.
You will work closely with our GP Partners, clinical colleagues, Patient Services Team and wider PCN professionals to ensure patients receive safe, responsive and well‑coordinated care.

The successful candidate will:
REPORTS TO: GP PARTNERS
HOURS: 2 - 4 Sessions per week (to be agreed)
Provide safe, high-quality, patient‑centred general medical services to the practice population of approximately 8,500 patients. Work with GP Partners, the multidisciplinary team, Patient Services colleagues and East & Central Brighton Primary Care Network (PCN) to support continuity, timely access and coordinated care.
The post does not carry a personally assigned patient list. On working days, the GP will take an agreed, proportionate share of clinical administration and other practice work, reflected in the job plan.
Assess, diagnose and manage patients across the full range of general practice, including prevention, screening, acute illness, long‑term conditions and health promotion.
Undertake face‑to‑face, telephone and video consultations and clinically appropriate home or care home visits.
Agree investigation, treatment and care plans with patients, taking account of their preferences, capacity, circumstances and relevant clinical guidance.
Recognise urgent or deteriorating presentations, arrange escalation or referral when indicated, and provide clear safety netting and follow‑up.
Prescribe, review and sign acute and repeat medicines safely, in line with practice policies, formulary arrangements and current guidance.
Make appropriate referrals and coordinate care with hospital, community, social care and PCN colleagues.
Review and action results, prescriptions, referrals, clinical correspondence and other allocated tasks promptly, with clear ownership and handover of outstanding work.
Maintain accurate, timely and appropriately coded records in SystmOne, including clinical reasoning, decisions, consent where relevant, actions and follow‑up.
Use information from Rapid Health and other digital channels as part of clinical assessment, applying independent clinical judgement and recognising when another consultation mode is needed.
Contribute to proportionate cover for GP colleagues during absence, in line with agreed practice arrangements and the job plan.
Follow safeguarding procedures for children and adults, seek advice and engage through appropriate local pathways.
Participate in significant event and patient‑safety reporting, complaints learning, audit, QOF and quality‑improvement activity.
Contribute to clinical, educational and governance meetings as agreed within working arrangements.
Maintain professional registration, competence, appraisal and continuing professional development relevant to the role; practise in accordance with GMC professional standards.
Protect patient information, use practice systems appropriately, and work within clinical competence while seeking advice when needed.
Communicate respectfully and effectively with patients, carers and colleagues, and promote a culture where concerns can be raised and addressed.
Work constructively with the Patient Services Team and other clinicians to support safe workflows and responsive patient care.
Share learning, contribute to agreed service improvements and engage with appropriate PCN and wider health‑system activity.
The pattern of the initial two sessions will be discussed with the successful candidate. Any later increase in sessions, allocation of duties or change in working pattern will be agreed and reflected in the job plan and contractual arrangements. Annual leave and study leave will follow the applicable salaried GP terms; NHS Pension Scheme membership is subject to eligibility.
Appointment is subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks, including professional registration, right to work and an appropriate Disclosure and Barring Service check. This description will be read alongside the contract, agreed job plan and practice policies, and may be reviewed with the postholder as the service develops.
