Job summary

Blandford Medical Centre in Braintree is seeking a salaried GP to join a busy dispensing practice. The role is offered on the basis of 6-8 sessions per week within a large, experienced team including 4 partners, 3 salaried GPs, 5 nurses and 2 HCAs.

The practice is training-focused with 3 GP trainers. Responsibilities include medical consultations, home visits, risk assessment, disease management, and contributing to audits and QOF, while providing patient education and comprehensive primary care

Qualifications

• Fully qualified GP with GMC registration.
• Annual appraisal and revalidation (when appropriate).
• Be on the NHSE medical performers list.
• Experience in chronic disease management and prevention/screening.
• Commitment to lifelong learning and evidence-based practice.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct surgery consultations and telephone consultations.
• Visit patients at home and manage queries, paperwork and reports.
• Sign and manage repeat prescriptions and associated paperwork.
• Provide health education and tailor care plans with patients.
• Record clear consultation notes and contribute to audits and QOF.
• Deliver enhanced services as part of the practice.
• Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.

About the Role

Blandford Medical Centre, in Braintree, is looking to welcome a salaried GP to their busy dispensing practice. Offered on the basis of 6-8 sessions per week, the successful applicant will be joining our extensive workforce of 4 partners, 3 salaried GPs, 5 nurses and 2 HCAs. We are an experienced training practice with 3 GP trainers.

The role will include a general duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care, as well as:

• Undertaking a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, reports and correspondence in a timely fashion;
• Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting medical problems, whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the organisation;
• Assessing the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems;
• Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness;
• Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols;
• Providing health education;
• Recording clear consultation notes to agreed standards;
• Collecting data for audit purposes and complying with QOF requirements;
• Delivering enhanced services;
• Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
