We are offering 6 sessions aweek with inclusion on the duty rota, with a starting salary of £12,000 andprogression in the future.

Main duties of the job

To work as an autonomouspractitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practicepopulation, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complyingwith the GMS contract.

Furthermore,the post holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice,contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example,maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with themultidisciplinary team.

Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities ofthe Salaried GP. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out othertasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffinglevels:

  • The delivery ofhighly effective medical care to the entitled population
  • The provision ofservices commensurate with the GMS contract
  • Genericprescribing adhering to local and national guidance
  • Effectivemanagement of long-term conditions
  • Processing ofadministration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescriptionrequests and other associated administrative tasks
  • On a rotationalbasis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles
  • Maintainaccurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy andguidance
  • Workcollaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
  • Adhere to bestpractice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
  • Contribute tothe successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiativeswithin the practice
  • Accept delegatedresponsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF
  • Attend andcontribute effectively to practice meetings as required
  • Contributeeffective to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinicalgovernance and training
  • Ensurecompliance with the appraisal process
  • Prepare andcomplete the re-validation process
  • Commit toself-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development acrossthe practice team
  • Support thetraining of medical students from all clinical disciplines

Inaddition to the primary responsibilities, the salaried GP may be requested to:

  • Participatein practice audits as requested by the audit lead
  • Participatein local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
  • Participatein the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structuredapproach i.e., root cause analysis (RCA)
