Job summary

Rolls-Royce in Bristol is seeking a Safety & Reliability Engineer to support critical programme milestones and ensure the safety and reliability of our Defence products. You will work with key internal and external stakeholders to deliver across the lifecycle, enabling customers to operate with confidence.

The role requires strong analytical skills, experience with hazard analysis, FTA, FMECA and QRA, and the ability to interpret data to inform design decisions and operational availability.

Qualifications

• Holds a degree in a STEM subject or engineering experience.
• Ability to think critically about system failures and their operational impact.
• Comfortable with statistical mathematics and uncertainty analysis.
• Knowledge of gas turbine engines, including design, operation and environment.
• Logical approach to problem-solving with data collection and evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Apply Safety & Reliability processes such as Hazard Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure Modes Effects & Criticality Analysis (FMECA), and Quantitative Risk Assessment.
• Collaborate with Life Cycle Engineering and Design Engineering functions.
• Capture and numerically assess system rejection causes to provide insights for operational availability and cost considerations.
• Utilise statistical methods to assess system reliability and identify potential risks.
• Influence design decisions by evaluating failures and their impact on safety and reliability.
