Job summary

A leading environmental services firm is seeking a Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Officer to manage safety and compliance at a key hazardous waste facility near Southampton. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in health, safety, and environmental roles within waste or recycling industries. Holding NEBOSH certification and relevant environmental qualifications is essential. This role includes promoting safety culture, developing health and safety plans, and ensuring compliance with legislation. Competitive salary of £40,000 to £45,000 plus bonus and excellent benefits offered.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a similar role within waste, recycling, or chemicals.
  • Membership in a relevant professional body (i.e IOSH, IEMA) is ideal.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a positive health and safety culture across the site.
  • Develop and manage the annual Health, Safety & Environment plan.
  • Ensure compliance by staying updated with key changes to legislation.
  • Manage the induction, training, and development programme.
  • Review SHEQ management systems in line with industry best practices.

Location: Fawley/Southampton


Salary: £40,000 to £45,000 Plus Bonus and Excellent Benefits

We've been engaged by an international industry leader to find a talented Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Officer to join their team. Reporting directly to the SHEQ Director, you'll play a vital role in driving safety, compliance, and environmental excellence at one of the UK's key hazardous waste facilities.


The organisation has an excellent reputation in the industry, with a long history of successful operations across the UK and internationally.


Responsibilities


  • Promote a positive health and safety culture across the site, seeking best practice at every opportunity

  • Develop and manage the annual Health, Safety & Environment plan and objectives

  • Keep updated with key changes to legislation to ensure compliance

  • Manage the induction, training and development programme across the site

  • Continually develop and review SHEQ management systems in line with industry best practice


Qualifications


  • Proven experience in a similar role within waste, recycling, chemicals or a related industry

  • NEBOSH Certificate (as minimum) and / or relevant Environment qualifications and ideally membership of a relevant professional body (i.e IOSH, IEMA)

  • The ability to influence and engage with all levels of the organisation
