What you’ll be doing

You will be producing Safety Cases for new Nuclear Manufacturing Facilities;

  • Adopting Inherent Safety and Defence in Depth approach to the development of modern standard Right First Time holistic Safety Cases.
  • Integrating cross-functional learning from Nuclear, Radiological, Environmental and Process Safety Relevant Good Practice (RGP) and shaping holistic safety processes.
  • Undertaking multi-stage hazard studies and analysis to determine fault and consequence scenarios and resulting in engineered and administrative prevention and mitigation measures.
  • Liaising with design and project engineers to ensure that safety is baked into new facility design.
Who we are looking for
  • Degree in Engineering or Science discipline, or equivalent
  • A demonstrable ability to work in multidisciplinary teams to tight deadlines
  • The ability to provide clear, concise and accurate technical reports
  • Previous safety experience in the nuclear industry or other high hazard industry
  • Experience or knowledge of hazard identification techniques such as FMEAs, HAZOPs, Fault & Event Tree Analysis, and reliability evaluation methods
  • Experience or knowledge of hazard assessment processes, including design basis assessment techniques (e.g. production of fault schedules, the derivation of safety functional requirements) and As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP) assessments
