Safety & Airworthiness Engineer

Altera Recruitment Group is supporting a long-established engineering organisation recognised for delivering high-precision solutions into highly regulated sectors. With capabilities spanning design, development and full in-house manufacture, the business continues to expand its technical teams as demand for bespoke, safety-critical systems grows.

They are now seeking a Safety & Airworthiness Engineer to strengthen their specialist function responsible for ensuring products meet stringent regulatory, safety and certification expectations. This role offers the chance to influence engineering decisions from early concepts through to final delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and contribute to safety assessments, hazard studies and risk analysis activities, ensuring safety requirements are built into engineering solutions.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of safety cases, hazard logs and associated documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assist with airworthiness and certification activities, preparing evidence, reports and technical submissions in line with relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Work closely with design teams to ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory articles and quality procedures.
  • Provide input during audits, reviews and continuous-improvement initiatives to strengthen safety processes and systems.
What You'll Need
  • Background in engineering, airworthiness or a related technical discipline, with experience in safety-critical environments.
  • Solid understanding of safety engineering methods such as FMEA, FTA or similar analytical tools.
  • Knowledge of defence or aerospace regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to interpret and translate technical requirements.
  • A structured and methodical approach, with excellent attention to detail and the confidence to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
