Safety & Compliance Manager – Scientific Research

We’re seeking a Safety & Compliance Manager to join a leading research organisation and drive a strong culture of health, safety, and compliance. Based in Stevenage (moving to a new London HQ around 2027), this is a chance to shape both current operations and future strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with HSE and other regulatory bodies (HTA, Home Office, etc.).
  • Act as Biological Safety Officer (BSO) and lead on biosafety matters.
  • Develop and deliver safety policies, training, audits, and incident reporting.
  • Promote a positive safety culture across research and operational teams.
  • Maintain compliance calendars, risk registers, and represent the organisation during inspections.
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience in health & safety compliance within pharma, biotech, or scientific research.
  • NEBOSH Diploma and Grad/Tech IOSH (or equivalent).
  • Recent BSO qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of legislation, risk assessments, and governance best practice.
  • Confident in audits, inspections, and stakeholder engagement.
