The Clinical Excellence Commission (CEC) is committed to providing leadership in safety and quality to improve health care for patients in NSW. The primary focus of the CEC is to promote and support improved clinical care, safety and quality across the NSW public health system, and to meet functions specified by the Minister for Health. The CEC Strategic Plan places priority on delivering high performing reliable systems and ensuring safety and quality in the provision of healthcare for ‘every patient, every time’ is consistent across NSW Health.

What you'll be doing

The Safety Data Insights Clinical Lead will be responsible for bringing leadership to the ongoing development, implementation and evaluation of the Quality Improvement Data System (QIDS) and other CEC data platforms in collaboration with the Local Health Districts (LHDs), Specialty Health Networks (SHNs), relevant Ministry of Health (MoH) teams and Pillars in line with the CEC Strategic Plan, NSW Health Strategic Priorities and NSW State Health Plan.

The position will build and successfully maintain relationships with key stakeholders within each NSW Health entity and at a state level to successfully enhance the profile, and influence the effectiveness of the CEC mission to actively monitor and drive health system safety, by using data to monitor, analyse, predict and inform data insights and responses to system patient safety issues.

Selection Criteria
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or extensive relevant equivalent experience in a large complex organisation (or a combination of study and work experience) with a proven track record of effective clinical leadership and change management.
  • Superior leadership, influencing and negotiation skills with extensive experience engaging senior stakeholders and customers to drive capability and development and achieve business outcomes.
  • Superior skills and proven experience using Microsoft office products in a creative and innovative format to provide qualitative and quantitative information to diverse audiences and stakeholders.
  • Superior organisational skills and experience working in a high volume and demanding professional environment with a capacity to prioritise competing demands, multitask, achieve business goal within tight timeframes, perform and always work with a customer focused approach.
  • Proven experience leading the development, implementation and evaluation of capability building programs and other resources to optimise the access, adoption and use of digital platforms and patient safety data and create insights to improve patient safety and other related outcomes.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated experience developing effective professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders including liaising with and influencing stakeholders to adopt and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment as well as individually.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and delivering state‑wide projects, including planning, managing change, improving systems and performance, and working with people and strategies to achieve results.
