Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking a Safety and Environment Engineer for a 6-month contract in Portsmouth. This role involves ensuring safety and regulatory compliance, supporting product development, and chairing safety meetings. Candidates should have knowledge of UK MOD processes and relevant safety legislation. Pay is up to £70 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Experience with UK MOD Safety and Environmental Management processes.
  • Familiarity with UK / EU Safety and Environmental Regulatory Compliance.
  • Advantageous to have knowledge of Military Satellite communication.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Safety and Environmental Management Plans.
  • Chair internal and external Project Safety and Environmental Committee meetings.
  • Support development to meet EU Directives and technical file delivery.
  • Facilitate necessary Safety and Environmental analyses.
  • Provide compliance guidance to projects and product teams.

Skills

Knowledge and experience of UK MOD Safety and Environmental Management processes
Working knowledge of UK / EU Safety and Environmental Product Regulatory Compliance legislation
Knowledge of Military Satellite communication in Maritime domain

About the Role

We are seeking to recruit a Safety and Environment Engineer on an initial 6‑month contract. As the Safety and Environment Engineer you will ensure Safety and Regulatory Compliance requirements are identified and complied with.

Pay: Up to £70 per hour via Umbrella

Location: Portsmouth

Contract: Monday‑Friday, 37 hours per week, 6 months contract

IR35 Status: Inside

Security Clearance: UK Eyes only project (on submission)

Responsibilities
  • Development and maintenance of Safety and Environmental Management Plans (SEMP), Safety and Environmental Cases (SECR) in accordance with UK MOD Safety and Environmental processes.
  • Chair internal / external Project Safety and Environmental Committee meetings.
  • Support the development of products to meet the requirement of EU Directives including the delivery of technical files and Declarations of Conformity.
  • Undertake / facilitate required Safety and Environmental analysis.
  • Provide advice, guidance and expertise to project and product teams, acting as focal point for all project Safety, Environmental and Product Regulatory compliance matters.
Essential Skills
  • Knowledge and experience of UK MOD Safety and Environmental Management processes (ASEMS, DEF STAN 00-056, DEF STAN 00-51, POSMS, POEMS).
  • Working knowledge of UK / EU Safety and Environmental Product Regulatory Compliance legislation.
  • Knowledge and experience of Military Satellite communication in Maritime domain an advantage but not essential.
